On June 4, 1982, the body of a young woman surfaces from 300 feet of water in Lake Placid, New York. Because of the depth and intense cold of the water, the body, which was determined by medical examiners to have been submerged for over twenty years, is remarkably well-preserved. The authorities are unable to establish the identity of the woman but conclude that her death had been violent. For David Powell, a successful businessman, the discovery fuels deep-seated fears and threatens to uncover secrets he has hidden from his beautiful wife and daughter. Struggling to hold on to his family and business, Powell faces a cunning opponent who threatens everything he has worked for, even his very life.
