Roadhouse Nights

Hanson, a reporter with a reputation for drinking on the job, is sent to get a story on the town of Moran, where Sam Horner, a bootlegger, has control; when he fails, the editor sends Willie Bindbugel, who discovers the gang's headquarters to be a roadhouse where Lola Fagan, his own childhood sweetheart, sings. Unaware of Hanson's demise, Willie remains, and in an effort to save him, Lola causes him to think he has been fired and suggests they elope, but they are overtaken by Horner. Pretending to be drunk, Willie informs the paper of his distress by telegraphic code, via the telephone; Horner discovers Lola's duplicity and tries to shoot Willie, but with the aid of Daffy, a singer-comedian, the plot is averted and the Coast Guard arrives to save the day for the lovers.
