Tammy and the Doctor

When elderly and wealthy Mrs. Call is taken to a Los Angeles hospital for a serious operation, her young companion Tammy, a country girl from Mississippi, goes along and takes a job as an assistant to the nursing staff. Though Tammy's inexperience causes considerable confusion, she wins the support of Miss Coleman, the head nurse, and manages to pacify old Jason Tripp, the hospital's crochety millionaire patient. She also attracts the interest of Dr. Mark Cheswick, but their romance comes to a premature end when Mark is warned by his superior, Dr. Bentley, that a romantic entanglement might jeopardize his career. Upon learning that Miss Coleman is hopelessly in love with Dr. Bentley, Tammy tries to intercede but succeeds only in getting the older woman to turn in her resignation. She returns, however, to assist at Mrs. Call's operation, which is successful. Now aware of his love for Miss Coleman, Dr. Bentley proposes, thereby opening the way for Tammy and Mark to renew their romance.
