Six murders take place across the globe, the final one in a villa on the Island of Formenza. The villa belongs to, among others, the best-selling thriller writer Margot Mercury. "Twisted", the novel that Margot is writing live, online via her webcam, is read by millions of her fans but above all by the police involved in the murder inquiries. The eight characters in the novel are those in the film. Each one could be a suspect, each one carries a secret, and all are connected to one another in the way that an octopus is connected to its tentacles.
