Battlestar Galactica
(Information provided from episode summaries created by the Battlestar Galactica mailing list) The story of how the 12 colonies of man are destroyed after a 1000 year war with the evil Cylon Empire. Through deceit, the Cylons are able to destroy the Colonies' entire fleet, except for the Battlestar Galactica, captained by Commander Adama. Adama gathers up the few remaining humans left on all the twelve worlds and embarks on a journey to find the mythical planet Earth, the supposed thirteenth colony of Mankind, lost millennia ago when humans first left the motherworld, Kobol. With food and fuel running out, the fleet heads for an ore planet, Carillon, hoping to get what it needs. The Ovions, who populate the planet, are being controlled by the Cylons, who set a trap for the Galactica. The fleet gets food and fuel, and escapes, destroying Carillon and a Cylon Base Star. více

Saga of a Star World
Across the galaxies exist The Twelve Colonies Of Man, worlds settled millenia ago by refugees from mankind's motherworld, Kobol. It is the seventh millenium of recorded time, and the Twelve Worlds are an advanced and proud nation. Flying through space are the capital warships of the Colonies - battlestars. Each of these flying fortresses is a long and lean starship sporting an enormous forward station, long flight bays to both sides of a comparatively slender midship section sporting a mammoth personnel bay on the underside, and mammoth nuclear-based engines capable of projecting each ship across the stars. Each battlestar is mammothly armored and heavily armed with antiassault laser batteries, powerful laser-pulse cannons for ship-to-ship combat, and hypervelocity missile dischargers. Each battlestar also sports over 200 fighter craft, slender tri-engined machines known as Vipers. But the main contingent of battlestars is not engaged in combat operations - this group is voyaging to the planet Cimtar for a ceremony at which a treaty of peace will be signed with the Cylon, a race of alien cyborgs created from a race of fully-evolved saurian beings; their leader, Sobekkta, had led the Cylon race to conquer star system after star system until allowing the Cylon race's own cybernetic technology to subsume their very essense, thus replacing their biological bodies with cybernetic armor and technology, and exterminating whatever biological Cylons survived. The Cylon Empire - sometimes referred to as an Alliance, a euphemism for the subsummation of captured biological races into the Empire's cybernaut technology - has been at war with the Colonies for one thousand years after they had conquered the world of Hasari and were driven back by intervening humans; the Cylons responded by exterminating the Hasari world and launching war into the Colonies, and the Supreme Cylon, Sobekkta, bears an especially virulent hatred of humans. Now, however, the Cylons have accepted peace, and a toast in honor of this peace is held on the flagship of the Colonial Fleet, the Atlantia, by the Twelve Worlds' ruling Council, led by President Adar.Adar is especially close to Baltar, a human arms and Tylium fuel dealer who has earned for himself command of a battlestar and was liason between the Cylons and the Colonies for peace negotiations. One other member of the Council, however, is less than enthusiastic - Adama, the commander of the Fleet's mightiest battlestar, the Galactica. Adama has studied the Cylon Empire as thoroughly as possible and understands the hate that drives their very essense and the incompatability of humanity, with its love of freedom and independence and resistance to oppression, with the Cylon cybernauts. Two of Adama's children - Apollo, commander of the Galactica's fighter contingent, and young Zaccariah - are assigned to fly ahead of the Fleet on patrol of the Cimtar area. When they approach the area they encounter a spatial cloud surrounding the moon, and two star craft are scanned within the cloud. Apollo penetrates into the cloud and finds a pair of Cylon tankers - both empty. When the scanners of their Vipers become jammed, Apollo becomes suspicious, and penetrates further into the cloud. What he finds is horrifying, for massing together is the largest armada of Cylon starfighter craft, known as Raiders, in the history of galactic warfare. Apollo and Zac are forced to flee, but they are pursued by four Cylon Raiders, their saucer shape a striking contrast to the slender needle-nose shape of the two Vipers. The Cylons open fire, but Apollo and Zac hit Inverse Mode thrusters, in effect stopping dead in space. The surprised Cylons overshoot them and become the pursued. Apollo and Zac thus turn the tables, opening fire and hammering three Raiders to destruction before the fourth outflanks Zac and lands a deadly laser burst that shatters his apex engine; Apollo dispatches the last Cylon, but emerging from the Cimtar area is the full armada. Unable to keep up with Apollo, Zac urges him to get to safety and warn the Fleet, and Apollo reluctantly hits full power and jumps back to the Fleet.Adama and his second-in-command, Colonel Tigh, get word of the battle but Adama's request to launch additional fighters is rejected by Adar on the advice of Baltar, fearful that a display of fighters will antagonize the Cylons before the scheduled rendezvous. Adama does, however, call a battle stations drill for the Galactica, which rudely interrupts a successful card game mastered by Lieutenant Starbuck, the Fleet's best pilot and most notorious rogue. It is not until the Cylon star legion enters close scanner range - with Zac barely keeping ahead of them - that Adar realizes there is something wrong, by which time Baltar has curiously disappeared. Zac pleas over his communications for help, but the Cylons fire a fatal charge that pierces Zac's cockpit and obliterates his Viper - and witnessing this tragedy on scanner are Adama and his daughter, scan coordinator Lieutenant Athena, who breaks down at the sight of her brother's death. The Cylons now open full fire on the surprised battlestars and Adama launches his Vipers under attack. The other battlestars of the Fleet try to launch their Vipers, but many are slaughtered upon launch and the Cylons have near-free reign with which to strafe the besieged Fleet. The Galactica's badly outnumbered pilots and her onboard antiassault operators fight without letup as laser fire slaughters Cylon ship after Cylon ship. Among the Galactica's pilots are Lieutenant Boomer, a level-headed engineer, and Jolly, a heavyset wingmate. They nonetheless take fearful casualties - one of which is a pilot who warns Starbuck about how dangerous it is out here scant seconds before Cylon fire blasts his ship out of the universe.Apollo proceeds to the Galactica's bridge and learns of Zac's death. When he tells Adama and TIgh about the two tankers, Adama realizes that a second Cylon fleet is en route to the now-underprotected Colonies, whose own defenses are in stand-down due to the peace treaty. Adama requests permission to sortie the Galactica to the homeworlds, but must bear tragic witness as a Cylon phalanx blasts away at the Atlantia before the ship's reactors detonate and the battlestar explodes, a blast of fire and debris that shocks and demoralizes all who witness.Adama now orders the Galactica to break off and return to the Colonies. Long range scans pick up a television newscast about a celebration in the capital city of Caprica hosted by Serina, a beautiful woman who is the planet's most famous broadcast journalist. Above the planet, however, orbit Cylon base stars, twin-tiered saucer-shaped fortresses under the personal command of the Cylon Imperious Leader, who bears the reptilian husk of Sobekkta and commands from a dark cylindrical chamber atop a high throne. When he gives the order to attack, Cylon Raiders emerge from their base stars and bear down upon the helpless planets. Serina's broadcast captures the first wave of Cylon Raiders as they open fire on Caprica's capital city. The Cylons strafe the city and blast buildings, and planetwide the Cylons lay down destruction witnessed on scanners by the Galactica, helpless to assist the besieged planets. The Cylons, however, make the mistake of moving on to regroup, giving Adama a chance to fly down to Caprica with Apollo and retrieve some belongings from his shattered home - and to mourn the death of his wife Ila. Crowds of refugees see Apollo and angrilly demand answers, but are moved to silence when they learn the totality of the Colonies' defeat. They are further moved by the presence of Adama, who tells the people they must assemble in every assorted star vehicle that will carry them. Thus, with the Cylons regrouping well away from the Colonies, vast numbers of ships fly into space bearing survivors for a rendezvous with the Galactica. Days later Baltar surveys the wreckage of Caprica with approval, as a pair of Cylon centurions informs him of the flight of survivors. Baltar scoffs at the notion that they could possibly go far and tells his centurions to carry out their standing order of exterminating the human race. The survivors have now rendezvoused with the Galactica and Adama tells representatives of each ship that they cannot stay in this galaxy - they must undertake a journey discussed in The Book Of The Word (the Bible of the Colonies) to a mythical thirteenth colony many galaxies distant, the last known remaining outpost of human civilization. It is a planet known only as Earth. The prospect of such a journey, with no end seemingly conceivable, has an effect on Athena, who is in love with Starbuck. Starbuck, however, does not believe anyone will survive to see another homeworld, and he and Athena put up a brave front as they feel they must break off any relationship they have had.--------------------First, though, the Fleet must find sources of food, water, and Tylium rock for use in the nuclear engines of the ships, and this coming after Apollo, checking on shortages among the Fleet, finds Sire Uri, a member of the Colonies' new government, engaged in massive hording. Adama proposes to the recently-formed new Council Of Twelve that the Fleet warp to the planet Carillon, a distant world explored for fuel years earlier but rejected as a source. The Council initially rejects this notion but Captain Apollo offers a scheme to deploy the Fleet through a starfield, the Nova of Madigon, that leads directly to Carillon - a starfield studded with Cylon mines. Apollo proposes "finding one or two volunteers" (Starbuck and Boomer) to join him by flying Vipers shielded from the starfield's blinding light and enormous heat and firing laser cannons to sweep up Cylon mines. Adama objects but is overruled by the Council led by - of all people - Sire Uri. He and Apollo engage in a bitter argument over the mission and over Sire Uri, and Apollo must tell his father that the Fleet doesn't need their leaders to be nursing wounds while fire still rages. The night before the mission, Starbuck chats with a young woman named Cassiopeia. Cassiopeia is a socialator from Gemon; socialator is a position of glorified female escort, and Starbuck, a notorious womanizer, is naturally attracted. In the dark launch bay of the Galactica Cassiopeia (who is also a trained medical technician destined to join the battlestar's medical corps) seduces Starbuck, and leads him into one of the ship's launching apertures. Before they can go far, however, they are scanned by Athena and she activates the tube's Steam Purge, giving both lovers a hot foot.Starbuck shakes off this embarrassing episode and with Boomer and Apollo leads the sweep of the Madigon Nova, and the Fleet arrives in the Carillon system. Landing operations begin searching for Tylium, and Apollo leads one such mission with a pair of new friends - Serina, and her son Boxey, who has been provided a robotoid "daggit" (an alien dog) named Muffit. Apollo has found in Serina a compatriot who helps him cope with the death of Zac, and the two begin falling in love.Starbuck and Boomer lead another exploration, and come upon a strange source of light; they are further shocked when emerging from the light is a woman, a woman from the Tauron colony who not only knows nothing about the Final Destruction of the Colonies but hasn't a care in the universe but does have huge winnings of cubits (gold coins) from gambling casinos on the planet and is due for a star cruise later that night.Entering the aperture from which the light eminates, Starbuck and Boomer come upon a paradisial underground world, a vast collection of entertainment venues, gambling venues, and eateries, all packed with humans from the Colonies, humans who have been here for months, even years. The two warriors discreetly explore the enormous chancery looking for the area's leader, and Starbuck even takes in a few gambling exchanges that net him a big pile of cubits, and is swayed by the singing of a trio of alien divas whose enormous heads combine two mouths with four eyes and a mixture of male and female voices.Elsewhere Apollo comes upon a hot reading of Tylium, but the party is surrounded by a horde of insectizoid aliens, known as Ovions. They take the humans to their queen, Lotay, who informs them that others from their group have been found. Apollo and Serina are thus introduced to the gigantic underground chancery and reunited with Starbuck and Boomer.Carillon contains the biggest Tylium mines in the galaxy, enough to supply the Fleet for many years. The Ovions offer the Fleet Tylium and also allows civilians to shuttle down to the planet to partake in its casinos and eateries. Adama and Tigh are concerned, especially as Sire Uri is leading parties of humans down to Carillon and has issued visitation permits to half the population. In his moments alone in his quarters, Adama narrates into a computerized journal expressing his thoughts and concerns about how Carillon seems too good to be true - which is indeed the case as several people take elevators to hotel rooms but wind up in the deep bowels of the planet and are seized by Ovions and paralyzed for use as food for Ovion hatchlings.----------Adama's suspicions grow when he reexamines Fleet Operations intelligence on Carillon and finds that the traitor Baltar was the one who led the original expedition and declared Tylium was insufficient for mining. When a special session of the Council is called, Adama is aghast when Sire Uri proposes disarmament and negotiating a truce with the Cylons and thus settling on Carillon, in the delusional belief the Cylons will now leave the humans alone.Adama is thus forced to undertake a risky end-around - in a secret meeting aboard Vipers in the Galactica's flight bay, Adama expresses concern to Tigh that the Cylons are massing for a strike on the Fleet while the people are busying themselves with the pleasures of the planet; Adama will surreptitiously deploy the Galactica's fighter phalanx to the planet surface well away from the mammoth chanceries, while Tigh is to seize all warrior uniforms possible and recruit anyone he can find to make them wear these uniforms and attend a planet-wide celebration mastered by Sire Uri, at which he'll propose disarmament and calling off conflict with the Cylons. Tigh proceeds to seizing uniforms, and when surprised by Starbuck and Boomer he must flex his officer muscle and chew out the two warriors because he's finding uniforms in "this condition!"Having thus gotten out of that jam, Tigh fulfills his part of the mission, and when Apollo and Serina fly down to the planet they are fully in love, but trouble begins when Starbuck notices a member of his squadron, except the uniform is right but the man wearing it isn't. The man disappears in Carillon's elevators, and Apollo and Starbuck search for him. When they find the elevators won't go all the way down to their basement, they blast one of the controls and jerry-rig the linkages to deep within the planet surface. It is here that they spot Queen Lotay in the company of several Cylon centurions. Instantly realizing the Carillon party is a trap, the two warriors hushedly debate what to do next, as they can't afford to leave the Tylium mines operational for the Cylons yet the Fleet's population is on the surface and since the planet is almost entirely composed of Tylium, ignition with a single laser shot will cause a fire that will spread until the entire planet is blown apart.Their argument is stopped when Boxey, who is searching for his wayward daggit, suddenly appears and a centurion unsheaths a sword to behead the boy. Apollo opens fire and a running gun battle ensues, during which Apollo and Starbuck discover the Ovion hatcheries - and that Cassiopeia has been captured for food. They rescue Cassi and must stay a few steps ahead of a horde of centurions, all the while their laser fire igniting Tylium stores that will swell into mammoth explosions. The entire Cylon garrison is activated and attacks the population in the chanceries, but warriors operating landrams - tracked vehicles with large laser turrets - arrive to provide devastating cover fire to evacuate the population. It is here that they learn that a Cylon base star, commanded by Imperious Leader himself, has launched its phalanx to attack the Galactica. The battlestar's warriors arrive at their launch fields, man their Vipers, and catapult into space and ambush the attacking Cylon phalanx. While the Cylons scatter in retreat, Apollo and Starbuck dive into Carillon's atmosphere and skim its surface, below Cylon scanners, approaching the base star in an attack formation. Their comm chatter intends to give the impression to the Cylons that an entire phalanx of vipers, rather than just the two of them, is on attack course toward the base star. A centurion advises the base star commander that they are under attack by a large number of vipers, while their own fighters have been decimated. The Imperious Leader, beginning to panic, orders the base star into the gravity of Carillon to evade the attack just as the planet reaches vapor point and explodes, taking the base star with it.-----------------------The Fleet is now safe to proceed on its journey to find the planet Earth, but the Cylons are not finished at all. A new Imperious Leader is activated and dragged into his chamber at his request is Baltar, the human traitor. Baltar had been condemned by the previous Supreme Cylon to public execution, but the new Cylon ruler wishes to give Baltar command of Cylon forces, to set a human to catch humans. Baltar is thus spared, but first he must be teamed with a Cylon second-in-command, a Cylon sentient who goes by the name of Lucifer..... více

Lost Planet of the Gods: Part 2
The Colonial Fleet has entered The Endless Void, and the reason why becomes clear when Adama reveals to Colonel Tigh that The Book Of The Word - the Bible of the Twelve Tribes - details the existence of the motherworld of Kobol within the Void, and that Kobol can reveal where the Thirteenth Tribe of Man proceeded in their quest for the distant colony of Earth. In the meantime the new recruits to the Galactica's fighter contingent are whooping it up after their success against a Cylon outpost; in a bizarre change of pace, the female warriors boast about their combat prowess while Apollo and Starbuck are chatting about Apollo's pending wedding to Serina and his choices in drapery. But on the Galactica's bridge Colonel Tigh detects a mysterious blip on long-range aft scan, a blip that comes and goes at the very edge of the scanner's range - and it's clearly following the Fleet. Adama orders the launch of an intercept patrol, and Tigh gets Apollo and Starbuck, but Serina insists on going, as she has been posted as Apollo's wingmate. Starbuck seems to take it in stride, but he sneaks the flight bay and launches against orders. Apollo and Serina launch and try to catch Starbuck, but Starbuck penetrates into the Void, trying to stay in contact with Apollo while scanning toward the object following the Fleet - determined as he is to keep Apollo away from danger and thus preserve his chances at living long enough to see through his pending marriage to Serina. It proves a costly commitment for Starbuck, for following the Fleet is a phalanx of Cylon raiders, their own scanners mostly unaffected by the Void's unique distortive radiation. They surround Starbuck and he is captured, and Apollo and Serina dare not pursue else they themselves become lost.Starbuck is flown to Baltar's base star and is aghast to find Baltar now in position of a Cylon leader. Baltar, however, insists there have been changes to the Cylon empire and he can bring peace to the surviving Colonists - a plan Starbuck doesn't believe and of which the Cylon IL Lucifer has great skepticism as well. Baltar, however, is counting on the weariness of the Colonists and their need for hope.On the Galactica Apollo is in a state of mourning over Starbuck's capture, as is Serina, but she makes a surprising proposition - she asks that the wedding between them occur now, fearful as she is that it may never happen. Apollo is skeptical at first, but his love for her is too genuine for him to deny her. Hours later a lavish ceremony takes place within the chamber of the Council of Twelve, with Commander Adama officially sealing the two - a ceremony that receives an unexpected blessing when a star suddenly begins flashing in the night. The star is the central sun of Kobol, far beyond the scanning range of the Fleet. Adama is overjoyed, for now the possibility of finding coordinates to Earth has become real.Kobol is a desert world, destroyed seemingly eons back by a massive surge of radiation from its central star. Only pyramids and other stone remnants of its vast cities remain, and two such mammoth pyramids house the burial chamber of the Ninth Lord Of Kobol, the last ruler before the Thirteen Tribes fled the Great Fire and settled on distant worlds. With a mammoth landing field for Fleet vipers and a surrounding base camp for warriors set up, Adama, Apollo, and Serina explore the tomb of Kobol, using a large medallion controlled by Adama, the Seal Of The Lords, made available only to descendents of the Lords of Kobol. To their shock and horror, waiting for them within the tomb is Baltar, who himself bears a Seal Of The Lords. Adama attacks Baltar but the traitor insists he was betrayed by the Cylons and spared to lure the Colonists into another ambush. He insists the Cylon Empire is now in chaos, explaining that the Cylon defeat at Carillon has upset the stability of the Empire, with base stars scattered throughout the galaxy searching for the Fleet and the star routes to the Cylon capital almost undefended; Baltar can bring the Fleet to the Cylon capital supposedly as prisoners but in actuality to attack the Empire's heart and overthrow it. As a token of this sincerity he promises to release Lt. Starbuck, a promise that seems to sway the enragedly suspicious Apollo. On the base star arrangements have already been made to release Starbuck, but Lucifer, who aspires to become Imperious Leader, suspects Baltar indeed plans to use the Fleet to overthrow the Empire, and when Adama and the others find tomb writings detailing the Exodus from Kobol to other worlds, the planet comes under ferocious attack from a fleet of Cylon raiders, who slaughter the city and many warriors on the ground, shoot down vipers launching from the planet, and blast the tombs of Kobol out of existence - only to be challenged by additional vipers from the Galactica manned by warriors now recovered from the disease that decimated the battlestar's warrior phalanx but days before. Amid the chaos of battle, the survival of Adama, Apollo, Baltar, and Serina becomes a race to free themselves from the wreckage of Kobol's tombs as well as from the Cylons - a race that takes a tragic turn when centurions arrive on the decimated planet to find and free Baltar. více

The Lost Warrior
Apollo crashes on the Wild West like planet Equellus after being pursued by four Cylon fighters. Nursed back to health by a widow named Bella and her son Puppis, Apollo takes on crime boss La Certa and Red-Eye, a Cylon centurion turned formidable gunfighter who killed Bella's husband Martin. více

The Long Patrol
Starbuck's unplanned double-date with Cassiopeia and Athena on the recently-reopened luxury liner Rising Star is interrupted when the Galactica picks up long-range transmission traffic indicting human life in a distant solar system on the other side of a vast asteroid dust field. Starbuck is recalled to duty to pilot the Starchaser, an up-powered reconnaissance viper denuded of weaponry and bearing a voice-activated computer - Computer, Oral Response Activated, known simply as CORA - that can handle the vast increase in performance in the new viper. Starbuck is enthralled by the new viper, but less enthusiastic about CORA, who bears a personality that grates on Starbucks nerves. Starbuck picks up two star-craft from hundreds of years vintage and in the process he is double-crossed and knocked unconscious by a smuggler of liquor. Starbuck later finds himself incarcerated on Proteus, a prison planetoid that is a surviving body from hundreds of such penal facilities scattered through the stars by the Colonies during the Cylon War, facilities that made munitions and liquor for the war effort. Proteus is now manned by the distant antecedents of its original guards and prisoners and continues to make ambrosia for Colonial warriors, even though hundreds of years worth of ambrosia have never left the planet - and the planet may not even survive, as a Cylon patrol that has detected Starbuck's now-stolen viper has spotted the planetoid while the stolen viper is being pursued by Apollo and Boomer. více

Gun on Ice Planet Zero: Part 1
The Galactica launches five Vipers, led by Starbuck and Boomer, on a deep space recon. Starbuck and Boomer are teamed with three cadets - Bo, Cree, and Shields; Cree's rawness becomes evident when he drifts too close to Boomer and is called out to get into proper formation. The recon is needed as Commander Adama is suspicious of a recent attack by Cylon raiders that disengaged too suddenly to write it off as a victory; he believes that the Cylons are squeezing the ragtag Fleet into a "safe" passage of a spatial "pocket" between unpassable space and several solar systems suspected of being under Cylon control.Closing on a solar system, the Viper probe encounters a small moon. Starbuck requests a scan from the Galactica and Flight Officer Rigel obliges. The scan shows the spatial body to be in effect an ice planet, its environment hostile. Colonel Tigh orders the probe to stay out of the moon's gravitational pull, so Starbuck orders Cadet Bo to take charge of his fellow greenhorns while Starbuck and Boomer orbit around the moon for a closer look. The moon possesses a breathable atmosphere but the atmosphere contains a dangerous cold gas known as di-ethene, a gas partly generated by Cylon weapon systems. Within the planet's largest mountain rampart is a Cylon garrison, headed by a golden-hued First Centurion, Vulpa. Vulpa had been exiled to this distant outpost but now has opportunity to find the Galactica as the garrison's scanners pick up the three cadet Vipers. Vulpa activates a gigantic pulse-energy laser cannon (the source of much of the di-ethene), and as it builds up energy it gives off a powerful flash of light visible from space, which attracts Bo to get a closer look. It is a fatal mistake as Vulpa orders the Cylon master gunner to fire, and the weapon fires a pulse that blasts Bo out of existence.Starbuck orders the cadets to back off and alerts the Galactica, but Cree and Shields disobey and plunge full speed into the atmosphere. Too far away to stop them, Starbuck and Boomer record the two cadets' short range telemetry as they fly after the mountaintop pulsar. The Cylons idenify the two incoming Vipers, and Vulpa orders that one pilot be taken alive. At close range the gun fires again, blasting Shields, then a trio of Raiders appears and fires at Cree, forcing him to crash-land. Starbuck and Boomer rocket to the rescue, but there is nothing they can do; Boomer pleads with Starbuck to break off and return to the Galactica, and with furious reluctance Starbuck does just that. With their scans from Cree and Shields' telemetry, Starbuck and Boomer return to the Galactica bridge and the weapon is identified as a pulsar whose destructive power is infinite out to very great distances; it also confirms that the Cylons are indeed squeezing the Fleet into a trap. Starbuck volunteers to lead a squadron to attack the pulsar but Commander Adama vetoes so suicidal a plan; instead he orders the assembly of a small ground unit to be infiltrated to the moon to probe into the weapon and try and destroy it with solonite charges, explosives powerful enough to do the job.A computer search is activated for qualified personnel; as this proceeds Starbuck finagles his way into the Galactica's master computer banks, where he surreptitiously enters himself as a qualified warrior for the proposed ground infiltration; but he and others a shocked when the search turns up four ex-warriors imprisoned on the Prison Barge - "We're just handing the safety of the entire Fleet over to a bunch of murderers and cut-throats," Starbuck bitterly says.Starbuck and Boomer bring the four traitors to the Galactica - Croft, a former commander who was jailed with his three compatriots for plundering a Cylon platinium mine and refusing to surrender his booty to Colonial forces; Wolf, a vicious demolitions expert extremely strong; Thane, an environmental specialist who can lead anyone through anything - even murder; and Leda, a med-tech with the supreme indignity of being married to Croft. Apollo is commander of the entire unit (this after an argument with his father, who'd initially vetoed Apollo's involvement), with Starbuck and Boomer as his seconds and three ground warriors - Haals, Voight, and Vickers - providing additional help.Boomer is shocked that Starbuck was picked for the mission and becomes more suspicious when Starbuck interrupts Giles, who is packing away Cree's belongings; Starbuck angrilly stops him and Boomer realizes Starbuck got himself programmed onto the mission when the emotional warrior insincerely denies it. Apollo, meanwhile, greets his adopted son Boxey and tells him he has to go on a mission to an ice planet; Boxey wants to see snow but his adopted father quietly dissuades him - or so he thinks. The assemblege of warriors onto a shuttle immediately gets to a bad beginning when Thane and Wolf immediately attack Haals, Voight, and Vickers; Thane subdues one with a paralyzing smelling substance while Apollo breaks up the fight, then chews out the ex-cons that their lives depend on defeating the Cylons, not each other. With a Viper escort, flown by warrior Killian, the shuttle launches to the ice planet. Upon arriving they are attacked; Killian shoots down a Cylon Raider but is then slaughtered by the pulsar, while another Raider shoots down the shuttle; Starbuck manages to crash-land but they now have to go via snow-ram vehicle, but not before the Raider attacks the crippled shuttle and is shot down by Starbuck manning the snow-ram's laser battery - and they all now have to put up with a pair of stowaways in Boxey and his drone daggit Muffit. With temperatures dropping to unsurvivable (by humans; the cybernaut Cylons are immune to the cold) levels, the snow-ram is loaded and starts through the snow toward the mountain. Thane and Wolf are plotting to escape, but Croft insist they complete the mission; this only angers Thane more as he believes Croft cares more about getting his rank back than actual freedom. As the ram proceeds another fight erupts between Wolf and Haals; Wolf produces a laser gun and his shot smashes the ram's power cells. The temperatures are now plummeting to levels where the air's di-ethene can turn the atmosphere into liquid. With the team trapped in the disabled ram, Muffit suddenly bolts into the wilderness; as a machine he can survive the cold, and Apollo only hopes he doesn't inadvertently bring Cylon centurions with him - as indeed Centurions have found the wrecked shuttle and immediately deduce Colonial warriors are starting toward the plateau with the mountaintop pulsar. Muffit is thus going one way, Centurions another, and the robot daggit spots what seem to be Centurions...............except the Cylons find the snow-ram abandoned on the unsurvivable plateau. The reason it is abandoned becomes clear when the warriors awaken in a cave filled with Cylon laser rifles and armored husks, and much-needed warmth. The cave is the territory of a race of clones - heavily-bearded males and slim, blonde females. One of the females pointedly states they prefer to be known as Theta-class life forms. The clone leader, known as Series Five Culture Nine - Ser 5-9 in shorthand - explains the pulsar is the creation of a human, Doctor Ravoshol, held in reverence as The Father-Creator by the Thetas. Ravoshol works for the Cylons as payment for being kept alive, and other Thetas work within a larger community within the pulsar. Ser 5-9 agrees to take the uninjured members of the team to Ravoshol - but they must maneuver through a ground aperture, with a Cylon patrol marching past above them - and one Centurion stopping as though he has heard a disturbance. In command of the Cylon force is Baltar, pleased when Lucifer reports the encounter at the ice planet, Arcta. Baltar orders a call for additional base stars, as his own attack force has been thinned by costly battles with the Galactica; Adama, though, does not know Baltar's base star as well as the pulsar garrison are seriously understrength, and the arrival of additional base stars will certainly keep him on edge. Thus does Baltar await the consummation of his strategy......... více

Gun on Ice Planet Zero: Part 2
Barely avoiding detection by a Cylon ground patrol, the Galactica's sabotage team is escorted by Theta clones to their underground village, where the leader, Ser 5-9, intends to shelter them while he takes Apollo to see The Father-Creator, Dr. Ravoshol. The Galactica warriors thus learn that the Thetas are more than just laboratory-created human clones - they are fertile, and have procreated very well, much to the consternation of the Cylons who decreed sterility the price to pay for being allowed to live; their children are hidden from the Cylons in the village.Ser 5-9 escorts Apollo to Dr. Ravoshol's primary lab. The doctor, however, is repelled by Apollo for being a warrior, except his pacifism is completely insincere as Apollo immediately realizes; the two argue as Ravoshol makes clear he wants no accountability, but they are interrupted by Centurions who are searching the underground world; they seize Ser 5-9 and take him to be punished. Ravoshol self-servingly blames Apollo and his fleet for this trouble - but gets the shock of his life when Apollo reveals the existence of the Theta children. While this is proceeding, on his base star Baltar (limping around, lingering evidence of his injuries from the battle of Kobol) learns from the Cylon sentient Lucifer of the survival of the ground probe from the Galactica; becoming more desperate he orders an attack on the Galactica to push the human fleet closer to Arcta, this despite Lucifer's protestation that their understrength raider phalanx may not have sufficient fuel to succeed. The phalanx thus closes on the fleet and is intercepted by a squadron of vipers; the battle is vicious and Baltar suddenly breaks it off (overcoming surprised protestation from Lucifer in the process), to make Adama believe the Cylons are closer than they are in fact.On Arcta Ravoshol shows Apollo a schematic of the pulsar - it contains the primary weapon and a small Centurion garrison. The key is to blow up the energy exchange pump, which will overload the pulsar and obliterate it. Before Apollo can rendezvous with the others, the criminal environment specialist Thane tries to escape, but is captured by Cylons and publicly interrogated; Thane tells the Cylons of a recording machine he possesses; the Cylons find it and activate it - unaware it is in fact a powerful hand explosive that kills Thane and several Centurions.Upon learning of Thane's death, Apollo assigns Starbuck to lead an inside attack on the Cylon garrison. As his end of the the Galactica team begins to climb the mountain toward the pulsar, Wolfe and Leda convince the reluctant Croft to go with them. Baltar meanwhile has learned of the approach of several reinforcing base stars, and he launches another attack on the Fleet; the Fleet fights off the attack but must now proceed directly toward Arcta - and with the Fleet beginning through the spatial corridor Baltar orders the pulsar to begin random firing. The weapon thus begins its bombardment toward the Fleet, destroying several ships; the firing dislodges large swaths of ice and creates a massive avalanche that nearly buries the Galactica sabotage team. The team survives, and soon reaches a plateau; it is her that Wolfe and Leda hold Apollo at gunpoint to make their escape, but a blast from the pulsar rocks the plateau and Croft jumps Wolfe, disarms him, and the criminal escapes into the snow toward a Cylon launch field - with Apollo thinking he'll never make it. Croft angrilly makes clear to Leda that they're on a mission, and that the safety of the Fleet is more important than any grudge against Adama.Leading his end of the sabotage team, Starbuck makes a detour when he learns of cold cells where the Cylons keep prisoners. He jumps the cell and shoots several Centurions, and thus finds Cadet Cree. Tenna, one of the female clones, hides Cree, then reveals to Starbuck that the Thetas will not allow the destruction of the pulsar. Starbuck confronts Ser 5-9, who explains the pulsar will be needed when the Cylons inevitably counterattack. It is then that Ravoshol appears; to the worshipful Thetas he tells them to allow the pulsar to be destroyed, and that he will protect them - he cryptically tells Starbuck he did not surrender all that he knows to the Cylons. The attack is launched, and the teams wipe out the garrison (though they never come close to the master firing station) and plant explosives on the exchange pump - but not before a Centurion opens fire and Leda is shot dead. The survivors escape as the pulsar continues firing, and the Galactica closing ever more to killer range............... více

The Living Legend: Part 1
A year has passed since the exodus from the Colonies, and the Fleet under the command of the Galactica is facing dire fuel shortages and must be brought to dead stop. On a long-range recon, Apollo and Starbuck are jumped by enemy fighters - except these are not Cylons, they are Colonial vipers. These other vipers are manned by Lieutenants Sheba and Bojay, ace pilots from the battlestar Pegasus, and when the two pairings realize who they are, they remember what happened to the Pegasus - some two years ago the Pegasus was assigned to the Colonial Fifth Fleet to help defend the allied world Molecay; Molecay and the Fifth Fleet were annihilated by the Cylons, so every survivor possible was hoarded aboard the Pegasus and the fugitive battlestar, rather than attempt to return to the Colonies with the Cylons aligning base stars precisely to stop them, instead sortied to the distant world of Gomoray, the capital world of another human ally, the Delphian Empire - except the Cylons have annihilated Gomoray as well and it now stands as the Empire's outer capital. The commander of the Pegasus is a living legend, Commander Cain, the most aggressive warrior in the history of the Colonies, and when he meets Apollo and Starbuck he remembers Apollo's father, Adama, a former wingmate of his from their youth aboard the battlestar Cerberus. Shocked upon learning of the Final Destruction, Cain mournfully notes a woman who was close to him - Cassiopeia. He also introduces his daughter - Sheba.Cain surprises Adama by appearing and returning Apollo and Starbuck, but their celebration is short-lived with the reality that Gomoray is in Cylon hands, not to mention the Fleet's need for fuel. Cain has long obsessed with conquering Gomoray, and the Fleet's need for fuel he believes gives him added opportunity, but Adama wants nothing to do with conquering a planet given the enormity of lives possibly lost should such an endeavor be launched. Adama vetoes an attack on Gomoray and instead orders Cain to plan the seizure of several Cylon tankers. The relationship between Apollo and his viper phalanx counterpart Sheba immediately becomes cold when Cain learns that Cassiopeia is alive, and serving as head med-tech on the Galactica; Sheba doesn't respect that her father is so close to a woman like her; also torn is Starbuck, fearing he is losing the one woman he can truly love.Cain leads two squadrons - one each from the Galactica and Pegasus - and intercepts two Cylon tankers, but Cylon escort fighters counterattack; in the ensuing melee Cain (observed by only Sheba) fires on the Cylon tankers and blows them out of existence; Apollo sharply asks if he was firing on a Cylon fighter, and Cain lies. Apollo's suspicion escalates on the Galactica in the after-action report to Adama where Cain again recommends an invasion of Gomoray. The next day Adama vetoes Cain's proposal, but Cain's lobbying becomes angrier, especially when Adama orders that some of the Pegasus' ready reserve of fuel be distributed to the civilian fleet. Cain makes the fatal mistake of openly refusing to obey the order, and when he starts lecturing Adama that he and his crew spent two years surviving without help, Adama turns furiously and openly states what is painfully obvious - Cain sabotaged the tanker mission; forced to confess, Cain is further humiliated when Adama, his superior, relieves him of command and assigns Colonel Tigh to command the Pegasus. While sadly sipping away his sorrows in drink, Cain is approached by his daughter and Bojay, but when they infer they will lead a mutiny, Cain sharply vetoes that. Even with Cain's angry disapproval, Sheba and Bojay lead a coterie of Pegasus warriors attempting to block transfer of fuel. The confrontation threatens to become violent when Apollo and Boomer must draw sidearms on their Pegasus counterparts. The attempted mutiny, however, disappears when both battlestars pick up the approach of a gigantic legion of Cylon raiders aimed at the Galactica; they are unaware that the phalanx is under the personal command of Baltar, who aspires to rule Gomoray as the capital of his own empire within the Cylon empire. The phalanx is composed of three base star contingents, more than enough to slaughter the entire Fleet, but Adama and Cain realize the Cylons are unaware of the Pegasus' presence. Adama returns command of the Pegasus to Cain and Cain immediately flies to his battlestar, to the delight of his crew; Cain's executive officer Tolen apologizes to Tigh, but Tigh recognizes the reality that "Who can fight a living legend?"Baltar's attack legion opens fire as the Galactica's vipers launch to intercept. Baltar focuses his attack on the Galactica's flight bays and one raider rams the entrance to the landing portion of Alpha Bay, exploding and detonating a raging fire that disables the bay. The bridge begins to detonate amid escalating Cylon strafing and the civilian fleet now comes under full scale attack from Baltar's second wave, this despite the heroic resistance of the fleet's vipers.Cain meanwhile has landed on the Pegasus and reassumed command; the Pegasus is now running along the attacking Cylon armada's rear echelon, and Cain orders Tolen to steer the Pegasus directly into the Cylon force - thus does Baltar receive a gigantic surprise when his own command raider, closing on the Galactica to deliver the fatal final laser burst, is suddenly in the crosshairs of another battlestar.......... více

The Living Legend: Part 2
Baltar wields an armada of three full Cylon attack armadas against the Galactica, but is surprised when he finds his own command raider in the crosshairs of another battlestar, the Pegasus. Panicking when the Pegasus' vipers suddenly enter the fray, Baltar orders full retreat, thus sparing the heavily-damaged Galactica.Commander Adama is all too glad for the help from the Pegasus and its maverick commander, Cain. While damage is under repair, Adama, Cain, and their second-in-commands hold an emergency meeting. Cain continues pushing an attack on the Cylon outer capital world, Gomoray, which presently houses a grid of antiassault pulsars and another phalanx of raiders, as well as massive stocks of fuel the civilian fleet desperately needs. Cain proposes landing a small infiltration team to sabotage the Gomoray base's command center; once the fuel base is secured he proposes deploying the Pegasus to counterattack the inevitable response from Baltar's fleet. Adama, still mistrustful of Cain from his sabotage of an attempted seizure of Cylon tankers, nonetheless approves the mission. The infiltration unit initially consists of Apollo, Boomer, and Starbuck, but Bojay and Sheba join, falsely claiming they were assigned by Cain's orders, and as if this isn't enough, Cassiopeia forces her way into the mission, realizing Cain "isn't planning on coming back," which surprises Sheba. While Baltar disgustedly discusses what went wrong with Lucifer on his command base star, he orders a new attack prepared with help from Gomoray, unaware the Colonial warrior team has already parachuted into its atmopshere - and all of them are unaware that a command ship is landing on the other side of Gomoray's main base bearing the Imperious Leader. The six warriors gun down several centurions and get to work planting solonite explosives to bunkers, but Bojay is surprised by a centurion and shot in the leg, while Starbuck and Boomer infiltrate the primary building and find the command chamber; timely charges explode the structure just as the Galactica arrives in short launch range and its vipers descend into Gomoray's atmosphere and open full fire, obliterating the surprised garrison and injuring Imperious Leader. When Baltar - kept in the dark by the Gomoray garrison commander all this time - finally learns of the attack on Gomoray, he desperately launches his entire phalanx against the Galactica and Pegasus, while Fleet tankers begin loading fuel for the Fleet and the infiltration team shuttles back to the Pegasus, to Apollo's surprise; Cassioepia ordered the change of landing based on the medical emergency with Bojay, but still apologizes to Starbuck given her relationship with Cain; Starbuck for his part is at total peace with it all.Cain orders the Pegasus into a direct counterattack through the Cylon phalanx, some three to one in numbers against the reinforced Colonial viper phalanx, to go after Baltar's base stars - Cain has recognized that Baltar is in command and also knows a secret about Baltar's role in the Molecay massacre years earlier that left the Pegasus a fugitive ship. Apollo is shocked and angered because Cain's goal is seizing glory and medals, the lives to be lost be damned - except his own daughter's, who he tries to divert to the main fleet but she won't have any of it.Fleet vipers are launched and attack head-on the Cylon armada, punching open a clean corridor for the Pegasus despite escalating casualties. The Pegasus, however, does not engage the Cylon raiders, and when Lucifer informs Baltar of this, Baltar deduces that the Pegasus is a decoy, so he orders his raiders to break off and go after the Galactica - a stroke of fortune as Sheba is injured when her ship is hit, and the Pegasus is badly aflame; the surprising disengagement of the attacking Cylons proves Cain's hunch correct again, to Starbuck's amazement.Sheba is brought to the Pegasus' medical chamber where Cassiopeia and other med-techs are already overworked with a plethora of wounded; when she disgustedly asks Cain if he's winning, he seems genuinely surprised people think of this as his own personal war - and it becomes just that when he sees his daughter badly burned in the back; he cryptically tells Apollo and Starbuck the Pegasus will be ready for the job - and both warriors realize what Adama realizes when Tigh relays what long-range telemetry is telling the Galactica, that the Pegasus is on a direct attack course toward Baltar's base stars. Adama contacts Cain to remonstrate, but Cain calmly asks Adama not to make his last battle an act of mutiny - and the realization that Cain knows he has nothing left to live for silences everyone on the Galactica. As Cain expects, when Baltar learns the Pegasus is on a direct attack course - and learns that it is commanded by Cain, who Baltar knows wants personal revenge because of Baltar's role in the Molecay massacre - he angrily orders the recall of his fighters at once. Cain gives tearful good byes to Sheba and Cassiopeia before they launch with the other wounded back to the Fleet, under viper escort, but after launch Starbuck calculates the shuttles don't need viper escort, which Apollo realizes means he wants to disobey the orders of a man who isn't following orders himself. Agreeing, Apollo and Starbuck turn back and blast into the fray when the Pegasus approaches two base stars, Baltar dropping his ship back, and the three capital ships open fire in a fatal showdown. více

Fire in Space
The Galactica again falls under Cylon attack, but this time, the Cylons have a new strategy. Instead of firing on the ship, they fly their ships into it. The initial impacts also critically injured Adama, whose life is now hanging in the balance. Can the crew put out the fire and save the Galactica, and will Adama survive to command it? více

Murder on the Rising Star
Starbuck is engaged in a game of triad (by Earth standards a mixture of basketball and football) and is consistently struck by hot-tempered bullying Flight Sergeant Ortega, whose low-blows to Starbuck finally result in a fight and ejection of both from the game. Starbuck nearly resumed the fight with Ortega but is stopped by Cassiopeia. Both men separate and after Ortega cleans up he is confronted - and found shot to death. Starbuck is seen rushing to the shuttle bay before Ortega's body is found - and when Starbuck's laser gun is tested it is found to be the murder weapon. Now incarcerated, Starbuck is at wit's end protesting his innocence and driven to force an escape. He boards his viper but is persuaded to stop by Apollo, and Apollo, checking on Ortega's background, learns that Ortega knew a man named Charybdis - who turns out to be the man who was Baltar's personal pilot and a co-conspirator whose sabotage of Inter-Colony Defense computer systems made possible the complete success of the Cylon attack on the Colonies. Apollo and Boomer learn that Ortega had blackmailed three men into boarding the Rising Star illegally during the Cylon attack, but the only way to smoke out the real traitor is to get the cooperation of Baltar, who proves to be the unlikeliest of heroes in saving Apollo and Starbuck. více

Greetings from Earth
Apollo and Starbuck come across a vessel they think may have come from Earth and take it aboard the Galactica. On board are two adults and four children in a state of suspended animation. Adama disagrees with the Council of Twelve about opening the sleeping chambers, for that may mean endangering the humans within. When the adult male, Michael, wakes up, he finds it difficult to breath the air on board the Galactica. Apollo, Starbuck and Cassiopea decide to escort the Lunar Shuttle Avion to its destination, hoping to find out if the travelers home, Terra, may be related to the planet Earth. více

The Hand of God
It is a night off. Apollo takes Starbuck, Cassiopeia, and Sheba to a narrow corridor above the Galactica's mammoth nuclear-fueled thrusters. They climb a scaffold to an enclosed dome chamber at the ship's very summit. Inside is a scan console and the chamber is cozy enough that Starbuck coyly comments to Cassie about its potential for love. Apollo then activates the dome, and it opens up to reveal space itself, shielded by thick transparant material. The dome is an astronavigational dome, the last surviving such dome on the Galactica since her launch five centuries earlier.Sheba mans the scanner, which Apollo has repaired in his spare time because of his passion for deep star exploration and for relaxation via old-fashioned starmapping. To her and the others' surprise, the scanner, set for long range transmission, receives a signal, of a small starcraft orbiting a planet. Apollo records the transmission and believes the ship is like an ancient Colonial spacecraft from two millenia back. The foursome roust Boomer out of bed, as he is expert as long-range comms, but all he can surmise is that it is a harmonic signal, a short-range retransmission of a primary signal, but also notes that if it is a primary transmission it can only be intergalactic to be as faint as it is.Upon learning of the transmission, Commander Adama orders Apollo, Starbuck, and Sheba to fly along the path of the transmission, which leads to a solar system a fairly short lightjump from the Fleet. Scanning the planets, Apollo and Sheba find nothing, but Starbuck picks up an object orbiting over the third planet, and to his horror the object is a Cylon base star. The three vipers warp out of the system in time, and Colonel Tigh ponders backtracking around the system while Adama speculates the transmission is a Cylon ruse to entice the Fleet into its trap. Adama also makes a stunning decision - instead of avoiding the system, he orders preparation to attack the Cylon base star, reasoning it is the only one within any reasonable reinforcement range; in any event Adama is tired of running from the Cylons. In contrast to the mammoth command bridge of the Galactica, the command chamber of the base star is claustrophobically spartan, manned by three scan centurions and a gold-hued First Centurion. The first centurion climbs from the base star's main flight bay to the bottom of the ship's central core, through mammoth computer banks, and into the chamber, where he learns of detection of a short blip outside the system. The First Centurion orders the launching of a combat probe to circumnavigate the system. While Raiders emerge from one of the base star's launch apertures, on the Galactica the ship's warriors (huddled before a scale model of the Cylon star fortress) are debriefed on the base star's strengths - 300 fighters (to the 150 now comprising the Galactica's own viper contingent), two long-range mega-pulse batteries for ship-to-ship combat, and 100 laser cannons for antiship and antiassault fire. Apollo has pondered Adama's plan to launch vipers to draw out the base star's fighters while the Galactica engages the base star from the sun side of the system, hoping the Cylons will focus on the vipers and not notice the Galactica's arrival. Apollo realizes that achieving surprise requires knocking out the base star's scanners, and that he and Starbuck can fly the captured raider brought to the Fleet by Baltar. To Apollo's surprise, Adama agrees with him, and summons Baltar from the Prison Barge. Once in Adama's chamber, Balter is offered a deal - barter his knowledge of the Cylons' security procedure in exchange for freedom, which entails landing him on a habitable planet within short lightjump range of the Fleet. He is to be freed upon the base star's destruction - and must take the chance of Cylon victory as he will be kept aboard the Galactica when she attacks. While Baltar agrees, Boomer has rigged a small ID transmitter for Apollo and Starbuck so their raider will be identified as friend via a red dot in the inevitable chaos of the Cylons' fighter fleet. Cassi and Sheba, meanwhile, have their own concerns, scared as they are for the two mens' safety; for Sheba it goes beyond fear, for she is falling in love with Apollo.Baltar later reveals that Apollo and Starbuck can infiltrate the base star if there are other fighters in space and must knock out a guard centurion at the bottom of the ship's central core, then blow up the chamber's computer banks and flee. The two warriors thus launch in Baltar's personal raider and jump toward the system, where they encounter the combat probe, fall into place, and land on the base star.Once inside they sneak their way to the hatch to the bottom of the core. Climbing down the scaffolding, they are spotted by the centurion and barely escape his fire before gunning him down amid the buzzing rumble of the base star's gravity drives. As they plant solonite explosives to the mammoth computer banks the Galactica's viper fleet enters the system as is scanned by the Cylons. The first centurion then enters the computer banks and the two warriors must flee pursuit by two guard centurions. In the pursuit the ID scanner falls out but they can't retrieve it as they barely escape the gigantic explosion of the computer banks, while outside the Cylon fleet attacks the Galactica's vipers and furious combat erupts with the Galactica's pilots shooting down Cylon raider after Cylon raider despite taking fearful losses themselves. The Galactica herself then enters the system as the base star orbits high, its scanners now blinded and the command chamber sealed off by the explosion. The Galactica reaches absurdly close range of the base star and opens fire, a micro-second before the base star's aft antiassault batteries finally detect the battlestar and commence their own fire. The first centurion orders mega batteries to open fire and the Galactica takes serious hits as her own antiship laser cannons blast away at the base star, a battle that will determine the fate of the Colonial Fleet and amid a new transmission from a distant galaxy concerning an ancient starcraft and a faint message that "the Eagle has landed." více
